Did you know? December 29th is Bowling Day, a day created to celebrate the great game of bowling. It was just as new to me as it is to many of you. So how did I find about it, and how did it originate?
Before I get into that, I'm sorry for the lack of updates in the past few months. I currently run this site part time while I'm working (of course I hope to change that some day), and I've had other things going on, and the site wasn't getting a lot of visitors at the time, so I had to put it on the back burner. But now the site has gotten more visitors, and I have 229 subscribers to my newsletter and increasing, so I will try to update normally again from now on. Now, with that said, let's move right along.
I found out about Bowling Day when I was contacted by Steve from
123greetings.com and offered a link exchange. He would place a link to my site on their
Bowling Day greeting cards page, if I put a link to that page on my
links page.
As for how Bowling Day originated, I wasn't able to find much on the Internet about it. All I found were similar pages to the Bowling Day greeting cards page I mentioned before. I even checked Wikipedia.com with no luck.
The lack of information also poses the question of whether or not there is even such thing as Bowling Day. For all I know, 123greetings could have just created the holiday to be another reason to cash in on greeting cards. (The greeting cards are free to send, but I'm sure they cash in somehow.)

Okay, I'm only kidding, but I wouldn't be surprised if that really was the case. If anyone knows anything, please leave a comment below.
Whatever the case, I'm all for a holiday to celebrate bowling. And if there's not really a Bowling Day yet, there should be. I have to work that day, and I can't get to the bowling alley the same day. But I will try to plan on going bowling the day before, which is my day off. But I hope the rest of you can go bowling that day.
By the way, I was just looking through my old blog entry about
Gene Wethington's bowling record, and his record was also set on Bowling Day (December 29th, 2003). Was it just coincidence? Somehow I doubt it. Though my sources didn't say anthing, Gene Wethington must have chosen December 29th to be the day he would set his record for some special reason.
So again, Bowling Day is on December 29th, just four days after Christmas. And with at, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Bowling Day from FunBowlingTees.com!
P.S. For any of you that enjoy ice skating, that same day is also
Ice Skating Day. So happy Ice Skating Day to you ice skaters, too.
