I recently put up a blog for FunBowlingTees.com mostly for news about this site, but also to share interesting news about bowling and anything else interesting I find occasionally. But when I searched the Web for other bowling blogs, from which I could find information in to post and link to in this blog, I was pretty disappointed. I found some bowling blogs which were good, but they were more of a personal nature--people bragging about their high scores and hot streaks and talking strictly about their personal experiences with bowling. In other bowling blogs, the entries were just a mish-mash of photos and stuff with little substance thrown together, and they actually called it a blog. Again, some were really good, but contained little (if anything) that would be considered useful, informative, entertaining, or interesting in any other fashion to me and other fellow bowlers. Just stuff about themselves. One or two others had information and statistics about bowling tournaments. They were very good, but not what I was looking for. But after hours of searching and searching, there was one blog that managed to actually hold my attention for .001 microseconds (or so it seems--more like 5 seconds or so) without me just skimming through it.
This blog is called "
A Mystery Striker's Look at Bowling!!!". However, the first entry is dated December 24, 2005, and the last entry is dated January 16, 2006, and none of the entries has even one comment. I guess Tenpingirl, the creator of the blog, gave up because her blog wasn't getting much traffic. That's too bad. It was a really good blog. It has some interesting articles, including one about smoking in bowling centers, one about big bowling center chains losing their personal touch, and another about bowling courtesy. I think later I'll visit her blog and post comments about her entries, and tell her to not give up and keep up the good work.
So with the lack of good bowling blogs on the Web, I see an opportunity. This blog is part of FunBowlingTees.com, and if I can make this blog the best bowling blog on the Internet, I can increase traffic to my Web site, and in turn increase sales, all while giving bowling fans something that will keep them coming back for more. Thus, I have renamed this blog from "FunBowlingTees.com Blog" to "
FunBowlingTees.com Bowling Blog", and I will work hard to make this the best bowling blog on the Internet. I will do my best to make this blog professional, informative, and interesting for bowlers of all ages, skill levels, and walks of life. I will also try to update every week, but I won't make any promises, since I may occasionally take a break from this blog to work on other areas of my site, or take a break from my site altogether. But I will try to update every two weeks at the very least. Or sometimes I'll update several times a week, especially this first week while I get this thing going. I know this is all talk right now, so I'll shut up. I'm just getting started now, but just wait and see. Here are some topics I will post on soon.
Kelly Kulick--how far will she go in the PBA?
New world record for bowling
How pinsetters work
Well, that's all for now. Of course, how often I post will depend on several things, most notably how much popularity this site gains and how much people like this blog, so your comments are always welcome. Just use the form below the sponsored link to post a comment. Also, if you have an RSS reader, or your own Web site that can display the contents of an RSS feed, use the links at the right to syndicate this blog. I will also post non-bowling stuff in this blog periodically, so you can use the XML link next to the Bowling category link to syndicate just this category. I will also be posting this feed to Feedzilla.com soon so that you can easily add this blog (specifically this category) to your site. Also, if your blog software or host supports trackbacks, and you want to link to an entry in my blog from an entry in your blog, and get a link back to yours in the blog entry you linked to, then feel free to link to that entry using the trackback URL below the sponsored links. Just make sure you use your own commentary about the entry, and make it interesting and professional. In other words, don't write an entry about a totally different topic (like ankle socks for instance) and put a link to a blog entry here from your blog. And don't post an entry that simply says, "hey guys you gotta check this out this is really cool and you can't miss it it's a neat bowling article about such-and-such this guy wrote in his blog so click here to see this totally kewl stuff," and expect a link to your blog entry to appear in the trackbacks section of my blog entry. If you HAVE to do something like that and link to a blog entry of mine from your blog like this, use the actual URL (the one in the address bar) and not the trackback URL, otherwise your trackback will just be deleted. But if your blog entry is on-topic, well written, and interesting to everyone, then feel free to use the trackback URL to get a link back.
That should cover it for now. Until next time...
EDIT (July 1st, 2006, 7:15pm):
I made a mistake about using the trackback URL to link to this blog. If your blog supports trackbacks, and you want a link back, just use the normal URL (in the address bar) and the trackback will be generated automatically. Sorry about that.
