Soda Frame—For Bowlers Who Don't Drink BeerFunBowlingTees.com creates a family-friendly alternative to the beer frame, and releases a line of T-shirts to promote it.
APOPKA, FL — April 24th, 2007 — In the sport of bowling, a beer frame is when all bowlers in a team or group except for one bowls a strike in the same frame. It is called a beer frame because of a tradition that involves the one bowler who didn't score a strike buying a beer for everyone in the group. Even those who do not follow this tradition still call it a beer frame when that happens. However, bowling has recently become a more family-oriented activity, and has attracted many who have not yet reached the drinking age, as well as those who just want to have some good clean fun without drinking. Many bowling centers have even banned smoking to cater to this direction bowling has taken. So Kenny Bentley, owner and administrator of FunBowlingTees.com, decided it was time for a family-friendly alternative to the beer frame. So he developed a new line of T-shirts to set a new trend—the soda frame.
It should be pointed out that FunBowlingTees.com does not encourage making the bowler who doesn't score a strike in a “soda frame” buy drinks for everyone else. But at least now bowlers can have something besides “beer frame” to say in front of kids and non-drinkers. But why choose soda for an alternative to the beer frame? “If you ask me, I think soda sells more than beer at bowling centers nowadays,” says Kenny Bentley, designer of the Soda Frame T-shirt. “As for me, by the time I start my second game of bowling, I usually make a snack bar run and get a large Coke. A big cup of ice-cold soda to chug between frames keeps me going when I bowl.”
The story behind the idea for the Soda Frame T-shirts started after Mr, Bentley observed a family bowling in the lane next to him. The father jokingly called out, “Beer frame!” And then he pointed out that his son, who looked about seven or eight years old, was too young to drink beer. This combined with everything else mentioned earlier eventually lead to the idea for the Soda Frame T-shirt.
The Soda Frame T-shirts feature the words “SODA FRAME!” in big red letters, and underneath that it reads, “I don't drink beer.” The Soda Frame line of T-shirts also features shirts for kids, which instead read, “I'm too young to drink beer.” The Soda Frame T-shirts are available in all sizes and in a variety of colors, including, white, ash grey, yellow, black, and navy blue. Long-sleeve T-shirts, sweatshirts, and other styles are also available. Soda Frame T-shirts can be purchased at FunBowlingTees.com (http://www.funbowlingtees.com).
